Synopsis

My name is Michael Vey, and the story I’m about to tell you is strange. Very strange. It’s my story.

To everyone at Meridian High School, Michael Vey is an ordinary fourteen-year-old. In fact, the only thing that seems to set him apart is the fact that he has Tourette’s syndrome. But Michael is anything but ordinary. Michael has special powers. Electric powers.

Michael thinks he's unique until he discovers that a cheerleader named Taylor also has special powers. With the help of Michael’s friend, Ostin, the three of them set out to discover how Michael and Taylor ended up this way, but their investigation brings them to the attention of a powerful group who wants to control the electric children – and through them the world. Michael will have to rely on his wits, powers, and friends if he’s to survive.

Setting
The setting takes place in the future. Michael Vey was born in Pasadena, California. He lives in Meridian, Idaho with his mom. There isn't a specific places in were the story takes places it goes from Idaho to California to a pizzeria but it keeps the book interesting.
Characters
Michael Vey- seems like a ordinary kid. But has superpowers that no one knows about but his mother. He can shock people the same velocity as a electric eel and is only getting stronger.
Ostin- is very intelligent has a high IQ making up 6% of smart people. Is Michael's best friend and next door neighbor.
Taylor- popular cheerleader who also has similar powers as Michael only she can read minds and erase memories for a second. She is also Michael's crush.
Mom- Michael's mother is his main priority in the book. His mom has moved houses and jobs to keep Michael's secret discreet.
Good Points
Michael Vey is a great book. I'm not really a fan of reading but this book kept me up all night. The plot and ending was so surprising. It's a book were you can't really predict the ending because it's changed up and keeps bewilderment towards the reader. The writing format is also interesting it's written in first POV but changes up half way in the book to 2nd POV. The way the characters talk and act is something that a younger reader can relate too because it deals with family, friends, and school.
Bad Points
The only thing I didn't like was how long it took for the next book to come out.
Plot Summary
Michael Vey is a story about a kid who has tortuttes syndrome and electrical superpowers. When a drastic event happens Michael has to face it with his best friend Ostin and crush Taylor. If they fail to do so many people will get hurt including they're families.
Ending
The ending ended on a cliff hanger but I thought it was a perfect place to stop. It keeps the reader wondering what's going to happen next and how.

Michael Vey

User Review

Setting
The setting was in Pasenda, California and Meridian, Idaho. Michael was born in California and all of the electric children except that Michael moved to Idaho because of him shocking people and his family needing to move homes. There was another electric child in California too, that is Taylor. The Elgen could not find these two electric children because they were so far away from the California Elgen Academy. This was a conflict for the Elgen but when Taylor looked up her birth records the Elgen found the last two electric children and captured them and bring them back to the school.
Characters
One of the Main Characters is Michael Vey he is one of the electric children who can shock others. Since he had shocked people when he was young him and his mom needed to move every year or so. He made his mom stressed a lot because of what happens at school. When he got in the fight with Jack, Wade, and Michelle he met Taylor and started to make their own club. Then they ended up boyfriend/girlfriend when they were both at the Elgen Academy. Another character is Zeus he is another electric child who turned to a good side while he was almost going to shock Taylor and Ostin. Michael, Taylor, and Ostin inspired him though not to shock them by reading his mind from the story of his past.
Good Points
The good points of the book are it is well written. The novel has many different viewpoints of characters. He used the characters at the write time when he was telling a certain story. He wrote certain events in a certain time period so lots of events were spread out and some had different styles to represent the different characters.
Bad Points
But some bad points are the book is not very unique; it might sound like he took ideas from other novels. Some chapters went to long and some chapters were too short with detail. The ending didn’t have enough detail and it seems like he squished all the stories together at the end to finish the book. It was written well but some chapters and parts he squeezed together and some he spread out too much.
Plot Summary
Michael Vey, written by Richard Paul Evans. The novel is about an electric boy who was born to shock people with electricity. There are seventeen other electric children like him and they all are gathered at the Elgen Academy. One day Michael got in a fight with some boys named Jack, Wade, and Michelle. Those three boys were the bullies at the school and picked on everyone they could, but they were picking on Michael for a while and he finally gave them a little shock for them to stop. When he did a girl named Taylor saw what had happened and she needed to know how Michael shocked the three teenagers. Another story was when it was Michael’s birthday and they were going to a pizza place, His mom and his best friend Ostin were with him, when they were finished they went out and these people were standing by their car waiting for them to arrive. It was the Elgen Academy. Before they got to the car Ostin needed to go back inside and grab his jacket. A scary looking teenager about Michaels age was doing something with her mind making her mom faint and making Michael get a headache, her name was Nichelle and she was from the Elgen.
Ending
The ending was satisfying but the reader would think the book would go a little bit farther written, but it doesn’t. It did fit the story because it was telling a story to end the book but the author ended the book right in middle of that story he was telling. I got out of this novel myself is that it can teach you life lessons about the internet or what you can find different places in the world. He was trying to say to the audience that when you start doing certain things people can hear about it and it travels around the world.
